Abstract

In this research, we developed 'Rejuvenesce Village' to train cognitive function and to improve satisfaction level of the elderly. This game is a serious game to train attention, memorization and judgment. Nowadays, in elderly people, lowered cognition and depressions cause problems such as dementia, indicating a need to research on the improvement of their life satisfaction and cognition improvement, and towards that end, research on effective game design is needed. It is required various functions such as H/W interface, visualization, GUI, and Color. We tested 100 elder persons on this game for 3 months in Seoul Asan Medical Center. As results, we found improvement of satisfaction of life as well as remission of depression. Based on these findings, requirements for effective serious game design for elderly people were derived.
