First record of Laysan Albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis) in Korea

Abstract

On 12 August 2017, one Laysan Albatross Phoebastria immutabilis was discovered by local Wildlife Rescue Center on the beach in Seongbuk-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan, South Koea. To date in Korea, only one species, Short-tailed Albatross P. albatrus in the family Diomedeidae has been recorded and this is the first record of P. immutabilis. This report provides a detailed description of the characteristics and an information of distribution in this species.

2017년 8월 12일 국내 미기록종 레이산알바트로스 Phoebastria immutabilis 1개체가 부산광역시 강서구 성북동 바닷가($35^{\circ}4^{\prime}55.95^{{\prime}{\prime}}N$, $128^{\circ}50^{\prime}9.70^{{\prime}{\prime}}E$)에서 발견되었다. 본 연구는 국내에 기록된 알바트로스(P. albatrus) 외 레이산알바트로스(P. immutabilis)의 첫 기록으로 세부적인 특징 및 분포와 관련된 기초적인 자료를 제공한다.
