Abstract

Title: The Effects of Shinbaram Health exercise on Health Status and Daily Living Performance Ability of the Elderly Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect on health status and daily living performance of the elderly who were participated Shinbaram health exercise for 12 weeks in a rural community. Methods: There were two groups, the experimental group(n=60) and control group(n=60), recurited from 8 villages in 2 districts. Frequency, percentage, chi-test, independent t-test, ANCOVA and Mann-Whitney U test were performed for analysis using SPSS/WIN 18.0 statistical program. Results: The exercise group showed significant improvements in perceived health(U=909.26, p<.001), systolic blood pressure(U=870.50, p<.001), diastolic blood pressure(U=1,088.00, p<.001), blood sugar(U=878.50, p<.001), total cholesterol(U=688.50, p<.001), and triglyceride(U=198.00, p<.001). The measurements of the muscle strength of exercise group also were increased; the left upper limb muscle strength(F=250.874, p<.001), the right upper limb muscle strength(F=95.130, p<.001) and lower limb muscle strength(U=301.50, p<.001). The exercise group had better balance (U=60.00, p<.001) and activity of daily life(ADL)((U=204.00, p<.001) and instrumental activity of everyday life (IADL)(U=76.50, p<.001) Conclusion: Shinbaram Health Exercise is effective to improve the health status and daily living performance of the elderly in the rural community.

일상생활수행능력(activity of daily life(ADL) (U=204.00, p<.001)과 일상생활의 도구적 활동(instrumental activity of everyday life (IADL).(U=76.50, p<.001)도 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다.
