Control of Sulfonylurea Resistant Lindernia dubia (L.) Pennell in the rice paddy field

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effective herbicides and control methods of sulfonylurea resistant Lindernia dubia (L.) Pennell in the paddy fields. The resistant tests of sulfonylurea herbicides confirmed in greenhouse including bensulfuron-methyl and pyrazosulfuron- ethyl. The resistant biotype was survived at the recommended dosage of all the herbicides applied. Non-sulfonylurea herbicides, such as oxadiazon, oxadiargyl, butachlor, pretilachlor and fentrazamide applied at pre-emergence stage, butachlor, pretilachlor, thiobencarb, esprocarb, pyrazolate+butachlor, carfentrazone-ethyl+thiobencarb, carfentrazone-ethyl+clomazon, carfentrazone-ethyl+pyrazosulfuron- ethyl+pyriminobac-methyl and thiobencarb+simetryn applied at 1 leaf stage and carfentrazone-ethyl+ thiobencarb, carfentrazone-ethyl+clomazon applied at 2 leaves stage had excellent controlling effects on the resistant biotype. However, the same times application of molinate, dimepiperate, pyriminobac- methyl and cyhalofop-butyl on dosage recommended had very low controlling effects to resistant biotype of Lindernia dubia var. dubia. The application of carfentrazone-ethyl+thiobencarb and carfentrazone-ethyl+pyrazosulfuron-ethyl+pyriminobac-methyl controlled to 3 leaves stage of Lindernia dubia var. dubia. The application of thiobencarb+simetryn controlled to 4 leaves stage. The resistant biotype of Lindernia dubia var. dubia survived at 45 days growth stage could effectively be controlled by foliar application of only bentazone, the mixtures of bentazone and 2, 4-D and bentazone+MCPA
