The purpose of the present study was to find out the status of the verbal violence and the negative results of that in relation to dropout intention 1,493 leisure sports participants were selected from 10 sports items as subjects using proportional stratified cluster Sampling method from May to June, 2005 to solve problems of the study. Verbal violence was measured by the items based on the scales used in previous studies(Ko, 1992; Kim & Lee, 1994; Yean, 1992; Choi & Woo, 2002), self-esteem by Lee & Won(1995),s Korean scales, violence by Sea & Kwon(2oo2)'s Korean scales, and sports dropout intention by Tinto(l975) & Kang2000)'s scales. Frequency and percentage by items were calculated, $x^2$-test, ANOVA, and path analysis methods were used. On the basis of the results analyzed, the conclusions were drawn as follows ; 1. 61.9% of leisure sports participants are verbaly violenced. The primary others violating them are sports peers, the most frequent type of verbal violence is contempt, and participants experience verbal violence 1-2 times per 6 months. 2. 20-30 age groups experience verbal violence of like contempt and threat, and 50-60 age groups experience it more frequently than other groups. 3. There are contempt and threat in the field of overcoming and competitive style sports and are contempt and rejection in the field of dancing and playing style sports. The more the sports participation frequency, time, and career, the more verbal violence frequency 4. Females, Younger age groups and lower class have higher sports dropout intention Overcoming, less frequent, and less career sports participants have higher dropout intention 5.
