Abstract
Renewable energy is seriously concerned because oil crisis and global warming may be occurred by the result of worldwide industry development. One of the method to produce renewable energy source could be carbonization of biomass which also be reduced greenhouse gas effectively. However, carbonization of biomass is difficult to operate because carbonization process has not been evaluated by considering basic data such as heating value, yield and fuel ratio. Hence, carbonization process of biomass should be studied to collect basic data for energy characteristics of carbonization residue. In this study, biomass is selected by a food waste. The basic characteristics of a food waste such as proximate analysis, and heating value are estimated. In carbonization test, experimental parameters are considered by carbonization temperature and time. The test is carried out to obtain basic data of the residue of food waste. As increased carbonization temperature and time, carbon content and fuel ratio (fixed carbon/volatile combustible) of the residue are increased but hydrogen content, oxygen content and yield of the residue are decreased. In the test, the optimum temperature and time in carbonization test for food waste can be decided by 250${^{\circ}C}$ and 15 min, respectively. From the results of fuel ratio and total heating value of the residue, the carbonization residue of food waste can be deserved to use one of renewable energy sources.
