Factors Affecting Smartphone Addiction in High School Students

Abstract

Purpose of this study was conducted to investigate factors affecting smartphone addiction of high school students. The subjects of this study were 216 high school students in Gyoung-nam Province by investigating general status related to using smartphones and completing smartphone addiction, self-esteem, impulsiveness, and sociality to evaluate smartphone addiction. The data were collected from September 14 to September 21 of 2012 and analyzed by SPSS 20.0 program. The results of this study were as follows. First, the score of smartphone addiction was $28.82{\pm}18.36$ and the level of self-esteem, impulsiveness, and sociality were relatively moderate. were relatively moderate. Second, the score of smartphone addiction was affected by various general characteristics. Third, Smartphone addiction showed positive correlation with impulsiveness and negative correlation with self-esteem and sociality. Fourth, gender, impulsiveness, and sociality explained 38.3% of the variance in smartphone addiction In conclusion, the results from this study indicated a need to develop a nursing intervention program to prevent smartphone addiction and would consider these factors affecting smartphone addiction.

본 연구는 고등학생의 스마트폰 중독, 자아존중감, 충동성 및 사회성정도와 스마트폰 중독에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하고자 경상남도 C시 고등학교 1, 2학년 학생 216명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 자료의 분석은 SPSS windows 20.0프로그램을 이용하여 빈도와 백분율, t-검증(t-test), 일원분산분석(ANOVA), Scheffe's-test, 피어슨 상관계수(Pearson's correlation coefficients), 다중회귀(multiple regression) 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 스마트폰 중독정도는 평균 $28.82{\pm}18.36$, 자아존중감은 평균 $34.86{\pm}6.86$, 충동성은 $54.61{\pm}8.16$, 사회성은 $82.75{\pm}8.16$으로 나타났다. 대상자의 특성에 따른 스마트폰 중독성의 차이는 성별, 성적, 하루 평균 사용시간, 가입한 SNS 개수, SNS 접속횟수, SNS에 글 올리는 횟수, 문자메시지 보내는 횟수, 스마트폰에 설치된 애플리케이션의 개수, 게임에 사용하는 시간에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 스마트폰 중독성은 충동성과 순 상관관계, 자아존중감 및 사회성과는 역 상관관계를 나타냈고, 스마트폰 중독에 영향을 미치는 요인은 성별, 충동성, 사회성으로 이들 요인의 설명력은 총 38.3%였다. 따라서 청소년스마트폰 중독 예방 프로그램의 개발 시에는 성별 및 심리적 특성에 따른 자기조절 능력을 키워주는 것에 초점을 맞춰 개발하는 것이 필요하다.
